- Speculoos (Speculoos / Speculaas) is a kind of spiced shortcasserole, which is traditionally baked for consumption on or shortly before Santa Claus in the Netherlands, Belgium and North France and around Christmas in Germany. It has been available all year round for several decades
- Speculatius biscuits are thin, very crispy, slightly tanned biscuits and have a picture or figure (often from the traditional stories about Santa Claus) stamped on the front, especially before baking
