The Brother LX17 Sewing Machine is a solid machine with a traditional metal chassis. It has a top loading drop-in bobbin and is easy to use with 17 stitches easily selected with a single dial. There are several straight stitch needle position options that enable the user to finely tune top stitching, edge stitching, and zip insertion. It also has four-step buttonhole features with no limitation to the size of buttonholes that can be produced. The machine has open and closed zigzag settings giving a nice satin stitch that can edge items such as table cloths, napkins, decorative lines, and curves. It also has a blind hemming tool built-in, two special stitches for either woven fabrics or knits, a bridging stick for attaching lace, and can be used for free motion embroidery. The machine has a lightweight and sturdy feel. Customers are satisfied with their purchase and find it easy to use, even for beginners. However, some customers find it poor quality and awkward to thread. The lift arm can also be fiddly for those with arthritis.
