- These two products used together provide effective treatment and prevention of Feather Mites, which are microscopic parasites living on the skin of horses among their feathers.
- The treatment addresses the challenges of detecting and managing Feather Mites, which typically manifest through constant stamping, chewing, and rubbing of the lower legs by the horses.
- Both the Spray and Shampoo contain Biomethrin, approved for use on horses and donkeys, which paralyzes the mites' nervous system and causes their death within 24 hours of contact.
- Treating Feather Mites requires continued application beyond the 42-day mite cycle, as re-infestation can occur through contact with other horses, shared grooming kit, hay, and bedding.
- The Spray is initially used to treat Feather Mites and should be reapplied 10 days after the initial treatment to capture any newly hatched mites.
