POR-15 Engine Enamel is a high-temperature paint suitable for use not only on engines but also on flue pipes, bricks under a wood stove, and exposed steam pipes in homes. Customers indicate that the product can be brushed on by hand, and when applied correctly, it provides a rock-hard, long-lasting finish. Following the prep instructions carefully is essential. The POR-15 engine enamel is not easy to work with, and in some cases, it can be lumpy and result in poor coverage. However, it sprays nicely and has good coverage when used correctly. The product is not tintable, and priming bare aluminum surfaces before applying the engine enamel is recommended. POR thinner or lacquer thinner is ideal for cleaning up the engine enamel. Despite the few poor reviews, customers who have used the product and applied correctly indicate that it provides good coverage, has a good finish, and doesn't peel or lose its color.
